Tattoo Aftercare:
During the first 48 hours, your tattoo
should be covered with clear plastic
wrap. Three to five times a day, the
tattoo should be unwrapped, washed with
a mild, unscented soap, by hand (no
washcloths or sponges), patted dry with a
clean paper towel (again, no washcloths
or fabric towels), and re-wrapped with a
clean piece of plastic wrap. After the
first 48 hours, continue to wash the
tattoo three to five times daily, as
described above, and instead of wrapping
the tattoo, use an unscented mild skin
lotion. You should only use enough to
keep the tattoo moisturized, don't over-do
it! Do not submerge the tattoo
underwater, this means no swimming in
pools or lakes until the tattoo is fully
healed! Showering is of course encouraged!
Do not scratch or pick at your new
tattoo, this will lead to loss of color
and possibly infections!
Piercing Aftercare:
Oral piercings:
Wash your hands first with a liquid anti-bacterial soap before
cleaning your new piercing! Rinse with a sea salt solution of
1/8 teaspoon of uniodized sea salt per 8 ounces of warm water
after large meals, after smoking, or drinking anything other
than water. Biotene mouthwash may also be used. Stay away from
harsh alcohol-based products like Listerine, as they can
actually do more harm than good during the healing process.
Refrain from kissing, oral sex, and drinking alcohol for at
least three weeks after being pierced. Other than cleaning the
piercing, it should not be touched at all. Do not twist, turn,
push or pull on the piercing, even during cleaning!
Body piercings:
Wash your hands first with a liquid anti-bacterial soap before
cleaning your new piercing! Soak your new piercing in a
solution of 1/8 teaspoon of uniodized sea salt per 8 ounces of
warm water for 5-10 minutes twice a day, preferably after
showering. Afterwards, rinse the piercing with clean, warm
water to remove any residue from the sea salt solution. Sterile
saline solution can also be used. Douse q-tips with the saline,
and gently clean the "crusties" off of the jewelry, being
careful not to turn the jewelry through the piercing. Do not
use soap IN your new piercing, as it can irritate it, and
prolong healing time. Do not twist, turn, push or pull on the
piercing, even during cleaning! Do not submerge your new
piercing underwater until it is fully healed! This means no
swimming in pools or lakes until the piercing is fully healed!
Showering is of course encouraged!
